A Birthday And Some Books

Overnight Ian’s water got tangled in his iPhone lead and Misty contrived to knock it off. Thank god I had pushed for a mop head. It was the morn of Vickys 30th birthday, and the sun was shining. Due to her training schedule for the Bristol half she needed to squeeze in a short run. At 8.30 she set off with Ian and Alex for a spin around the meadow.

When they came back it was a quick turnaround as all except me were off to archery. I was charged with looking after four dogs and putting up the meagre 30th birthday decs. As it happens they all slept the whole time. After an hour I settled with a magazine thinking the lesson was two hours long. My feet had only just touched the pouffee before the door burst open. Sadly it was only an hour. The archery had gone really well for everyone, especially Ian, who of course had got the maximum score and had to pose for a picture for Facebook!

Sadly, Vicky never noticed my meagre decorations. She did have fun with the old photos I had brought though. She set too with vigour to open her many presents and blow out her many candles on her cake.

Lots of prezzies

We all had coffee and cake before most of us headed for Winchester. Ian and Chris remained in dog duties, with Ian having a bit of work to do. The reason for the visit was that Vicky wanted to buy thirty books for her thirtieth birthday, and the rest of us were there to carry them! There are lots of lovely book shops in Winchester and by the end she had met her goal.

We returned sore of foot but happy of heart. Until Vicky laid out her wares and found that she had miscalculated. She had thirty one books!

Books, alcohol, and a bucket hat

We had booked to eat in the cafe for tea so as not to leave the dogs too long. We had been instructed we must book, and we must let them know our selections well beforehand, us being such a big party. Turns out we were the only ones eating. Food was nice though.

Happy birthday!

This was followed by some champagne and a game of Happy little Dinosaurs back at the ranch

As you can imagine we were all shattered, so I booted Ian out with the dogs, Alex and Einar headed for the hot tub, and the rest of us went to bed.
