Forest Bathing

Four dogs in one treehouse is tricky. Sam sleeps like an angel in his cage so was no problem. Misty didn’t settle till she was in our room. On the floor. No problem. Monty and Amy were fine till Ian went to the loo about 5am. At that point Amy somehow opened the bedroom door and they both barged in like stormtroopers with Monty leaping onto the bed. We managed to settle them again till the yipping began about 7am. unfortunately I offered to get up, as there was a great big poo in the middle of the floor. It was then that I found the mop had no head so I had to tackle it with poo bags, loo roll and disinfectant. We had a quick swoop into the forest after they were fed and Ian had a nice coffee waiting for me when I got back.

People rose when they fancied as we had no big plans. I made some porridge then we split into two groups. Runners and walkers. Ian had a tight calf so walkers were me, him, Kathy and the dogs. Runners were Alex, Chris and Vicky. Down at the Forest Retreat (reception and cafe) we found a 4km route that looked nice. Turns out it was beautiful. It crossed a big field before looping through the woods passing swathes of bluebells. There were so few people about that we felt confident in letting Monty off.

We walked the beautiful blue route

The walkers

About half way around we heard heavy footsteps behind. The runners had also chosen this route. They stopped for a chat then set off again. Bad move. Misty got totally confused and started chasing them furiously as she thought they were leaving her, as did Sam who set off with baleful howling that echoed through the woods!

The runners

We managed to catch Misty and calm Sam and carried on our merry way until we heard heavy footsteps behind. The runners were doing the circuit again, cue more chasing and howling.

Back at the lodge we dined on leftover barbecue food before we took turns napping or relaxing in the hot tub. I did enjoy the peace and tranquility. It was nice to just chill for a change. I also enjoyed the cosmopolitan that Vicky made me!

Cheers!

We had ordered pizza for tea, which arrived at the alloted time. I wanted to ensure that I had made use of all the facets of the lodge, so Ian and I sat on the decking watching the forest world go by.

After all that inactivity we were shattered. We watched some footy which we had managed to screenshot to the telly while Alex slaved away making delicious margaritas for us all. We were planning on a game but the lazing caught up with us and we retired. It’s a busier day tomorrow.
